Creative Living was founded in 1974 as a 501(c)(3) organization to solve the housing dilemma for physically disabled individuals who desire to live independently but still require some day-to-day assistance. Our residents are quadriplegics and paraplegics whose spinal cord and brain injuries are the result of traumatic accidents or whose diagnoses have required full-time or nearly full-time use of a wheelchair for mobility.
At the heart of the Creative Living mission is our unique Resident Assistance Program that delivers peace-of-mind and on-call, non-medical assistance 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year – things like removing a jacket, grabbing an item off of a shelf, transferring from wheelchair to bed or vice versa, carrying groceries, taking out the trash or assisting with a full-on emergency, among many other needs. This invaluable service bridges the gap between the time a personal care attendant might spend with residents and the remaining hours of the day.
To express it simply, Creative Living is the difference between living independently or living in an expensive, skilled nursing facility. For our residents, independence and affordability prevails.
